The stunt of holding the debt limit hostage is such a hack move. The "Tea Party", now called Freedom caucus, first tried this under Obama. It was led by McCarthy and a few others. It didn't work out well then and accomplished nothing. Now that they are the opposition party again, they are pulling out this old trick? McCarthy is showing us how weak and hapless his position is since allowing the Freedom Kookus own him up and down. A strong leader would have negotiated a bi-partisan bill to address the deficit, but McCarthy is so afraid of being ridiculed by the radicals in his party that he will never put the country above his political interests.
Here's a few reasons his is just bad strategy:
1) Threatening to default, not to mention actually defaulting, kills our credit rating costing the US more in interest offsetting cuts to expenditures (so stupid its beyond stupid).
2) Congress, particularly the House, established spending levels. They are essentially threatening the crash the economy over what they already agreed to spend (so moronic only morons could think it up or believe it's a good fight to pick).
3) Our debt is essentially 5% GDP or 3% of Gov spending - this is like not paying your bills the minute your debt equals 5% of your annual net.
4) It they don't like debt, then pass a balanced budget. It's literally their primary function.
5) At the end of this, Repubs will have to cave because otherwise they will have to own all the inflation, economic turmoil, stock market corrections and fallout from a default.
REpublicans have a good Bill. Biden and the Senate will pass it, if not Dems look like idiots

How do you do that you keep spending low keep taxes low and so the central gov works on a very frugal budget . During the Jackson administration who spoke very much like a
Jeffersonian governed like a Hamiltonian in terms of power the U.S. gov was debt free because the Jeffersonians cut spending ..all spending had to be specific ...then you get to the confederate constitution of 1861, which was drafted by Jeffersonians it was very hard to spend money and very hard to borrow money . So we had a gov in the south in the 1860s was the model that Jeffersonians wanted and of the U.S. Constitution very hard to borrow very hard to spend . We don't have that with the U.S. Constitution It's very easy to borrow and very easy to spend and so what we've got is a gov that knows it doesn't have enough revenue even though it increases revenue every single year it's not had a cut in revenue ...when was the last time the general gov had a cut in revenue ? It has an increase in revenue every year but they keep spending more every year because of baseline budgeting and all kinds of other things . So we now have this spending crisis and it's a Constitutional crisis.
Default should be done now to save economy in long term
McCarthy and Biden didn't create the US debt problem... They will never have solutions to pay off the US debt. The only solution is to be flexible, and affable!
