Our value as designers is built on our ability to learn lessons from the past. What parallels are there between the digital products we design, and the systems that were born from the auto industry in the early 20th century? In talk 1 of 9 in this lean design series, product designer Hiromi Matsumoto introduces Lean Six Sigma principles to design methodology.
As companies evolve to adopt, integrate, and leverage software as the defining element of their success in the 21st century, a rash of processes and methodologies are vying for their product teams' attention. In the worst of cases, each discipline on these teams product management, design, and software engineering learns a different model. This short, tactical talk reconciles the perceived differences in Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and Agile software development by focusing not on rituals and practices but on the values that underpin all three methods. The tactics in this talk draw on Jeff’s years of practice as a team leader and coach in companies ranging from small high-growth startups to large enterprises. Whether you’re a product manager, software engineer, designer, or team leader, you’ll find practical tools in this talk immediately applicable to your team’s daily methods. Lean, design Thinking and Agile, what are all these buzzwords, and how do they all fit together? The Lean methodology relies on 3 very simple ideas: Deliver value from your customer’s perspective, eliminate waste and continually improving the way in which value is delivered, by eliminating every use of resources that is wasteful, or that does not contribute to the value goal. the Agile manifesto was born in 2001 where seventeen people gathered in UTAH in US, to discuss how they could speed up development in order to bring new software to market faster. Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems in an attempt to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding. At the same time, Design Thinking provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. It is a way of thinking and working as well as a collection of hands-on methods. 📚 GET OUR FREE AGILE BOOKLET WORTH 39$ 🤍 FOLLOW OUR TRAININGS Agile Fundamentals , Scrum and Kanban 🇫🇷 French Course : 🤍 🇬🇧 English Course : 🤍 Scrum Product Owner 🇫🇷 French Course : 🤍 🇬🇧 English Course : 🤍 FOLLOW ME 🎞️ Youtube: 🤍 ❤️ Facebook: 🤍

What is lean concrete? Here's the definition of lean concrete: Lean concrete refers to a mix where the cement used is less than water. Concrete with a high ratio of aggregate to cement is called lean concrete. The purpose of lean concrete To seal the soil and create a level surface for building foundations, a layer of concrete, usually 5-10 cm thick, is placed on top of it. For example, fine material, e.g., Sand, is used to fill in cracks on a pavement or earthworks layer. Mix Ratio of Lean Concrete The concrete ratio is 1 to 3:6 (M-10) for Civil construction. Below, concrete is known as lean concrete. For lean concrete mixes, the ratio is generally 1:3:6, 1:4:8, and 1:5:10. Mix for lean concrete examples: Grade of concrete (M-5); 10 (cement sand aggregates) The M-5 grade concrete will have a characteristic strength of 5 MPa. Grade of concrete (M-7.5) - 1:4:8 (cement, Sand and aggregates). M-7.5 grade concrete will have a characteristic strength of 7.5 MPa. Grade of concrete (M-10) - 1:3:6 (cement, Sand and aggregates).M-10 grade concrete will have a characteristic strength of 10 MPa. #leanconcrete #Concrete #leanconcrete_uses #CivilEngineering Read the entire article here: 🤍 Also Watch 1) Roles & responsibilities of civil site engineer - 🤍 2) Is Civil Engineering a hard major? 🤍 3) Top Civil Engineering business Ideas 🤍 4) Being a civil engineer vs an architect 🤍 5) Tips to be a great construction manager 🤍 ☑️☑️☑️Follow US ☑️☑️☑️ 👍 Subscribe: 🤍 👍 Learn more about Civil Engineering: 🤍 & 🤍 👍 Like us on Facebook: 🤍 👍 Join us on twitter: 🤍 = advertisement = 👍 you can contact us on the channel page for paid promotions. Requirements-driven product definition is a sure-fire way to get 100% of the wrong product launched. The assumptions that requirements are based on are usually not accurate enough to determine the exact solution those requirements dictate. Instead, teams should focus on creating a series of hypotheses that define potential solutions to their business problem and then work together to learn which of these hypotheses are keepers and which ideas to kill. In this talk at the Lean IT Summit 2014, Jeff provides an overview of how to apply the ideas behind Lean UX and Design Thinking to project definition and planning. Opex Minute 27: Lean Cellular Approach. What is Cellular Manufacturing? What are Lean Work Cells? Presented by EMS Consulting Group, Inc.: 🤍 #opexminute #kaizen #leanmanufacturing #leanmanufacturingmanagement #leanmanagement #cellularmanufacturing #flow Welcome to today’s edition of the OpEx Minute, presented by EMS Consulting Group. Today we will be talking about the Lean Concept of Cells. Whether we are talking about cellular manufacturing or office workcells, the cell concept is important to operational excellence. So, what is it all about? A cell is an arrangement of people, machines, materials, and methods with the processing steps placed right next to each other in sequential order, through which work is processed using a continuous flow / 1 piece flow or FIFO flow with a small amount of Standard WIP (SWIP) in between steps. The thinking behind the creation of the cell concept was that much waste can be avoided by moving from a functional layout or departmental approach to a cellular approach. Let’s show you . In a functional or departmental layout, the work flows from one department to another in large batches. This creates overproduction, excess inventory, more transportation than necessary, defects being detected later in the process and affecting more units of work, and more issues. Using a cellular approach, we have: Reduced Work In Progress with shorter distance traveled/smaller batches Reduced defects with immediate feedback a product-focused team environment to meet customer demands This same cellular approach we use regularly in manufacturing environments can be translated to the office. Having cross-functional teams work in cells reduces the same types of waste. While true 1 X 1 or continuous flow production is not typically possibly in an office environment between stations in an office cell, we can use FIFO or First-In-First-Out flow where work can be managed visually. If you have an interest in learning more about cellular manufacturing and workcells, visit our website at 🤍emsstrategies.com and contact us. We would be happy to help.
"To stay competitive we need to eliminate waste. If we're lean enough, we can stand up to the rest of the world and achieve incredible success," says engineer Stefan Armbruster from item. Cologne University of Applied Sciences has also chosen to use the intelligent system for its Lean Factory project. Why? Expert on all things lean, Prof. Abels explains: "We looked at a lot of tube systems. What we really liked about D30 is its engineering, which is really in harmony with the lean philosophy!"
