Sky News host Danica De Giorgio has called the now outgoing University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill a “gutless woman” following an anti-Semitism inquiry. Ms Magill resigned after being grilled at Capitol Hill for the increase of anti-Semitism on her university's campus. “Now she’s being forced to backtrack,” Ms De Giorgio told Sky News host James Macpherson. “Whether it was of her own accord or not, I just think it really just goes to the bigger question of how leaders are treating this issue. “Leaders are just gutless on what is an awful, awful anti-Semitism issue.”

Centralia, Pennsylvania was nearly entirely evacuated following a coal mine fire, burning beneath the town since 1962. Centralia’s fire started in 1962, when residents turned an old strip mine into a dump, and setting the rubbish alight. The fire spread through an unsealed opening to the underground coal mines, igniting a seam of coal, and the fire has been burning to this day. In 1992, Pennsylvania condemned the town and claimed it under eminent domain in an attempt for force the remaining residents out. Some sued, and were allowed to stay. A section of State Route 61 was abandoned after it began to buckle and crumble from the underground fire. The fire stretches 12km, and burns underneath an area of 15 square kilometres, 300 feet below ground, authorities say the fire could burn for another 250 years. The town now mostly attracts tourists who visit an abandoned highway, where many profanities and obscene pictures are spray painted onto it, over time the highway has earned the nickname Graffiti Highway. Centralia is rumored to have inspired Silent Hill. Pennsylvania, a northeastern U.S. state and one of the 13 original colonies, has a diverse terrain, which includes wide stretches of farmland, national forests, and mountains. Philadelphia, the Keystone State’s largest city, displays its rich history in Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, an enduring symbol of American freedom. Pennsylvania is downright beautiful. It is home to some of the country’s richest history, incredible culture and, yes, a picturesque scenery. The Appalachian Mountains sit here, and the state has more than 120 state parks, with over 100 miles of coastline, and a varied selection of great towns and cities, each with its own character. Mountain climbers will love this state, so will surfers, skydivers, and skiers even, depending on where you are in the state. Little wonder the Keystone State is widely considered one of the best states to retire. The natural allure aside, this is a notion mostly driven by other key factors for anyone interested in the hard data: economic vibrancy (this is the sixth-largest state economy), good health care, school districts that are a cut above the other states, affordability, low rate of homelessness and high quality of life. Here then, are the 10 best places to live in Pennsylvania to help inform your decision better. 10. Philadelphia. (good to retire, find a job, and raise a family) 9. Pittsburgh. (affordable place to retire, job, raise a family) 8. Scranton. (place for jobs) 7. Allentown. (good for retirees) 6. York. 5. Lancaster. (best place to retire) 4. Reading. 3. Harrisburg. (best place to retire, find a job) 2. Erie. (affordable city for retirees, young professionals) 1. Jefferson Hills. Where the name really comes from (not Holland...and it's not a mistranslation) My name is Erik Wesner and I'm not Amish. Back in 2004, I met the Amish while selling books. Since then, I've visited 5,000+ Amish homes & dozens of Amish communities. My book on Amish business, Success Made Simple: An Inside Look at Why Amish Businesses Thrive, was published in 2010. Hi, i'm Marc! I operate this YouTube channel in which I produce content related to the roller coasters and theme parks of the world. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and support what I do. It’s free and every single person who chooses to do so is greatly appreciated! Check out my Instagram page here :) 🤍 Also, if you need to get in touch with me, you can reach me at “coasterdash01🤍gmail.com”. I am available through Instagram DMs as well. I recently created a new YouTube channel called TravelDash! It focuses on the natural beauty and national parks of the United States. My passion as a roller coaster enthusiast is what got me into travel, and over time i’ve started to gain appreciation for the states and countries that these theme parks are located in. This has developed into an interest for nature, which is now just as much of a priority for me as visiting theme parks. Subscribe if you’d like to join me on my travels :) Subscribe to “TravelDash” at this link - 🤍 — check out my Discord Server! Engaging Colonial Pennsylvania Lesson Plan: 🤍 In this episode, students learn the amazing story of the founding of the Pennsylvania as William Penn's Holy Experiment! The exploration question is, "How did William Penn's Quaker beliefs influence the development of colonial Pennsylvania?" It starts with introducing who the Quakers are- their egalitarian beliefs, pacifism, and the prosecution that Quakers faced in England and in Puritan New England as well. When William Penn cashed in on the debt King Charles II owed his father, he founded the Pennsylvania colony to be a sanctuary for the oppressed Quakers and other religious dissenters. It teaches how Penn's Holy Experiment was predominately about ensuring religious tolerance for all believers- which was radical for its time. It also covers other developments of democracy in Pennsylvania and Penn's framework for government that influenced the US Constitution. Penn's treatment of Indians was exceptional for the time- purchasing land from the Lenape Indians and signing Penn's Treaty to ensure peace and friendship. It covers how Penn also looked to profit from the land and attracted migrants from across Europe - making Pennsylvania very ethnically diverse. It covers Pennsylvania's mixed economy, the development of slavery in the colony, and how over time, as more settlers came- the peace with the Indian tribes was replaced with conflict and Indian removal. The lesson plan that goes with the episode includes an interactive notesheet sheet to follow along the vide, a quick quiz to check for understanding, and an extension lesson that has students design an advertisement for Pennsylvania to attract settlers based on a short reading and from what they learned in the video. Harness critical thinking, creativity, and some awesome history! I do hope you enjoy, dan :) PS- If you enjoyed it, show it!
