Fans of iRacing have got some brand-new content to play with following Wednesday's 2022 iRacing Season 4 build update. There were three new tracks released, including the free-with-membership Rudskogen Motorsenter and the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben which we may have a video for later this week. For dirt racers, iRacing also released a brand-new oval in Lucas Oil Speedway. While there were also some car upgrades to the ARCA Menards Chevrolet Impala and the Lotus 79, the only new piece of vehicle content comes in the form of the new Porsche Mission R Concept Car, an all-electric racing machine. The cockpit also moonlights as a sim racing rig when removed. Dave Cam is excited for this one. The design is pretty epic, and this looks like it may be a start to the future of motorized racing, but how does it drive? The all-wheel drive machine, with separate motors for the front and rear wheels, only has a single drive gear. Don’t be fooled, as this thing absolutely flies! Take a seat and watch as Dave navigates the new simulated racecar around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Dave will take you through his first impressions with the car as he switches from race to qualify mode and opens up another 400bhp. Having a look at the new electric car on iRacing - the Porsche Mission R. My first impression of the car was not very positive, probably because the sound is so super annoying. Generating more than 800 kilowatts of power from its dual electric motors, the car accelerates from 0-100 kilometers per hour (0-60 mph) in under 2.5 seconds. Its fast-charging capabilities allow the car to recharge up to 75% of its battery life in just 15 minutes between races. And in perhaps its most relevant innovation of all to the sim racing world, the Mission R's self-contained, monocoque-type driver cell can be used outside of the car as a simulator-giving drivers an opportunity to test in the virtual world in the same environment they'll utilize in the real one. Germany's Motorsport Arena Oschersleben became the fourth permanent racing facility to open in Germany when its doors first opened in 1997. A longtime host of FIA GT, DTM, and international touring car events, it will welcome the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series for the first time in 2023, and currently serves as the host of the FIM Sidecar World Championship for motorcycles. Oschersleben's Grand Prix layout clocks in at 2.297 miles (3.696 km) and gets going with a lengthy frontstretch before a hard left turn leads into the sweeping right-hand Hotel corner. The hard braking before Turn 1 can often cause incidents between drivers at the start of races, so extra care is required to get the best possible start. The Moto layout replaces the abrupt left-hander with a less harsh version designed to keep two-wheel racers safer.
