It's cheap, has high quality materials and manufacturing standards, comes with plate mount stabilizers that are outstanding out of the box, and has in my opinion the best layout you can get. So why mod if it's that good you ask? Well, as nice as the keyboard is, even with decent switches and keycaps my build lacked any standout or signature typing sound and feel. It's not thocky, poppy or clacky, but for me it leans towards/is close to being creamy. So I was interested to see how it sounded with PE foam and the tape mod, and actually had a couple of comments from people wanting to see the same. The Keychron V1 is a new budget custom mechanical keyboard aimed at the entry consumer. This is a full ABS plastic board that is tray mount. Overall the build quality is really nice for $54 (barebones), and the typing experience is nothing special.
