With KSP 2 coming soon, and the developers focussing on scientific accuracy, I attempt to clarify the problem and inaccuracies with Laythe in the original Kerbal Space Program. In this video, I give a more scientific perspective on the game, all in good fun. I know that there are other things that are not realistic in the game when taking the approach, but that is not my point. Hope you enjoyed it! On the face of it Soyuz 1 was a great new spacecraft that would carry Vladimir Komarov into orbit making him the first cosmonaut to fly in space twice. But behind the scenes it was clear the program was rushed, highly dangerous and would ultimately lead to Komarov's death. This video is in honor of all of the fallen space explorers, may their sacrifices not be in vain and may their legacies inspire us all. After 12 years of development, Kerbal Space Program has finished development, and KSP 2 is right around the corner - So, it's time to look back and enjoy the incredible evolution of KSP development! Support me and future videos through Ko-fi! 🤍 Join the discord server! 🤍 Notes: There were an insane amount of changes over the 12 years to fit into a 20 minute video - same goes for number of mods. The Hubble Space Telescope has been our main orbital observatory for nearly 3 decades. It launched not long after I was born and I cannot remember a time without it, this video represents a lifetime of exploring space for Hubble and me and is dedicated to our main supporter Cody Freese from CRS Labs. The video focus on STS-31 ans STS-61 the missions where the telescope was deployed and first serviced. For me to explain Hubble's journey properly it would take a whole series and weeks of my time so unlike a lot of my videos where I try my very best to make everything as accurate as possible this video is more of a compilation of shots from my testing phases in an attempt to get more content into the video. I've edited it to make it look about right, let us know in the comments anything you think looks a little bit off :D Craft Downloads 🤍 All of the Hubble Space Telescope Images are courtesy of NASA/ESA you can find the support materials on this website. 🤍 All historical video clips are courtesy of NASA/ESA plus there are clips from these two videos. The contract needs us to flyby The Mun, but we're going to step this up to a free return flyby and use the opportunity to talk in detail about maneuver nodes. (KSP 1.12.3) Addendum: I mentioned that this vessel is capable of getting into Near Space above The Mun. One way to do that is to get a capture (the vessel just has enough dV to do that and still get home), but there is an easier option. When setting up the burn for your flyby, adjust the timing so your periapsis with The Mun is low, say 20 km, and still on the same side of The Mun as in the video. Don't worry about the resulting orbit about Kerbin. When you enter The Mun's SOI, set up another maneuver at your periapsis with The Mun. Adjust prograde (yes, prograde) until the maneuver brings your periapsis with Kerbin down to 35 km. Collect all that High and Near Space science, perform the burn at The Mun's closest approach, and enjoy the ride home. 🔔 Subscribe -► 🤍 ❤️ Patreon Support -► 🤍 ❤️ Join as a YouTube Member-► 🤍 Patrons & Members supporters receive early, ad-free, access to videos and more. 🚀 Discord -► 🤍 🚀 Contract Guides Playlist -► 🤍 🚀 Delta-v Map -► 🤍 0:00 - Introduction 0:38 - Looking at the Contract 1:50 - Upgrading Tech & Buildings 4:55 - Looking at Probe Cores 6:34 - Delta-v Maps 8:32 - Upgrading the Lifter 9:53 - Improving Radial Separation 11:48 - The Game Plan 13:10 - Launch 16:09 - Getting to The Mun 19:21 - Maneuver Nodes 21:34 - Setting Up a Free Return 25:56 - Burn Details 29:40 - Fixing Mistakes 31:31 - Collecting Science 33:01 - Summary
It's the 50th anniversary of mankind's first mission to land on the surface of the Moon, join us in celebrating the mission and exploring our 21st century craft file version of events. This year I have gone from the V2 rocket all the way up to the Apollo missions. My own personal space race was to get to Apollo 11 before the 20th and it looks like I've done it. This was only possible thanks to the support of our Patreons and it's thanks to these guys so many episodes have made it into the series so far. I still had to skip at least 30 good missions so hopefully more Patreons will join us so more time can be dedicated to the task. Most of the historical footage used in the video was taken by NASA, there was a lot of different sources so just ask if you would like to know more. Navigating to other planets in Kerbal Space Program can be a tall proposition at first, requiring you to wait for exactly the right time to leave Kerbin so that you arrive at the destination at the same time as your destination does. Hitting a small target in a big solar system can be daunting, but, with a bit of knowledge and some tools to help find the launch windows you'll be going places in no time. For starting out I recommend 🤍 to let you calculate you phase angles, or Protractor Mod if you want to do this in game (no URL because KSP.com is having trouble) If you want to look at the actual theory then read about Hohmann Transfer Orbits 🤍

Part two of von Braun's vision is an analog his RM-1 mission, his first proposed manned circumlunar flight created in Kerbal Space Program. To me this video was just going to be for bridging the gap between the ring station episode and episodes where we land heavy equipment on the moon but it would have felt wrong to rush it or leave it out entirely so here's a fun take on von Braun's RM-1. Since the main build in this video took no time at all I used the spare time to make some extra shots in preparation for my unrelated ksp cinematic, KSP Colonist, that will hopefully be ready in a few weeks. The nosecones are left out, because at this moment (0.21) drag is only calculated by the weight of an item, not its area. Effectively this means that any item you place on your craft to enhance its aerodynamics, will reduce it.

Apollo is a manned spacecraft used to reach Moon and to land on it. So the idea was to bring to moon two ships: command module (CM), where you can store all austronauts and food for them for the journey, and the lunar module (LM or LEM) with descend (landing) and ascend (take off) stages. But you can't just "go to Moon!" - you need to test everything. So Saturn-1B was used to test Apollo CM and LEM in flight on earth orbit. Mods: 🤍 Wiki: 🤍 🤍 🤍
