Sore breast with burning sensation and itching on one side of the breast could be because of discharge coming from the breast, if it is bilateral, it could be because of a skin condition called eczema arising from the breast and the areolar complex. So in these woman, I prefer that they go to a dermatologist to check first if it is a skin related problem. if it is ruled out, then it could be related to the discharge coming from the breast itself which is a very common condition these days called as the fibrocystic disease of the breast and it is a very common condition these days because of some inflammation or infection in the breast called as mastitis. So we do an ultrasound of the breast to see fibrocystic disease of the breast or there is a mastitis of the breast. We also do a cytology of the discharge from the breast to see what are the types of cells that are present in this discharge or if there us any inflammation finding. Then we treat them accordingly. Some people with mastitis with inflammation and discharge from the breast, then we treat them with antibiotic. Normally minocycline is the drug of choice for breast infection because this penetrates very well into the breast tissue.

When the nipples rub against clothing or other objects, they can become dry and chapped. This can occur while exercising or during sexual activity for both men and women. When the nipples are chafed, a person will typically experience dry, cracked nipples along with some pain on or around the nipples. In severe cases, the nipples may bleed, such as after long-distance running. Chafing may affect people more severely during winter months, as cold weather can make the skin more prone to dryness. Yeast infections Candida albicans is a fungus that causes yeast infections, or thrush. Nipple thrush is less common in males than females. Yeast infections can occur in the nipples for several reasons, including: having had dry nipples previously having nipples that are cracked or bleeding having recently used antibiotics breastfeeding Thrush thrives in warm, damp environments, so keeping the nipples dry and cool can help prevent thrush from occurring. Changing shirts and bras regularly can help prevent yeast infections. In addition to dryness, thrush can cause the following symptoms: burning, itching, stinging, or tender nipples flaky skin on or around the nipple shiny skin on or around the nipple a burning sensation that often follows breastfeeding a deep aching, shooting, or stabbing pain in the nipple or breast cracked nipples flushed areola and nipple a rash Contact dermatitis When a foreign object or substance comes into contact with parts of the skin, it can cause an allergic reaction called contact dermatitis. A person’s nipples can also experience contact dermatitis. Common causes of contact dermatitis include: perfumes ointments soaps detergents synthetic materials in clothing In addition to dry nipples, contact dermatitis can cause symptoms such as: itchiness flushing and swelling pain or discomfort Eczema Eczema refers to a group of inflammatory skin conditions. The term most commonly refers to a condition called atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis affects 7.2 percent of adults and 13 percent of children in the United States. It usually affects the hands but can occur anywhere on the body, including the nipples. Hormone changes Hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle can affect the breasts, and they might lead to tenderness, dryness, and itching in some people. This is due to natural changes in the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body. Hormone-related nipple dryness or itchiness is not a cause for concern and will likely go away during the next phases of the menstrual cycle. Paget’s disease and cancer Paget’s disease of the breast is a rare condition associated with breast cancer. It causes a dry, scaly rash around the nipple, and some people mistake it for eczema. Paget’s disease usually suggests that a person has underlying breast cancer. Breast cancer will typically only affect one of the nipples. The main symptoms of Paget’s disease include: flaking or scaly skin on the nipple that does not heal yellowish or bloody nipple discharge a suddenly inverted nipple tingling or itching around the nipple Although breast cancer can affect men, it is more common in women. 5MV-73 - Why I have Brass Nipples. - I was recently given a rear wheel. Unfortunately the rim had a flat spot in it so I decided to disassemble the wheel so I could reuse the hub, a nice Campagnolo unit. I discovered the wheel was built with aluminium alloy spoke nipples and these had corroded. Most of the nipples unscrewed just fine, but five crumbled due to the corrosion. I met Mike and Sue on Dirty Jobs years ago, and we’ve remained friends ever since they refused to let my crew and me check into a hotel, insisting instead that we stay with them for several days. I've never forgotten their hospitality. Today, Fair Oaks Farms is one of the largest dairies in the world, and the company they started – Fair Life – is one of the most successful operations I’ve ever seen. But a couple years ago, an animal rights organization infiltrated one of their dairies, and filmed a few of their employees mishandling their animals. The footage was difficult to watch, and the resulting uproar could have easily ended their business. But it didn’t. Why? Because Mike and Sue got ahead of the problem. Within 24 hours of the first news report, Mike released a video of his own, filmed in his kitchen. No teleprompter, no notes, no PR agency approving or disapproving whatever he elected to say. In the video, Mike spoke directly to his customers. He not only apologized for what happened, he accepted full responsibility for the actions of his employees and fired them immediately. He didn’t blame the animal rights group for sneaking onto his property and filming without permission. He didn’t make a single excuse. Then, and perhaps most importantly, he pledged to enact a series of steps that would ensure nothing like that could ever happen again on his farm, or to his animals. And so, he has, with a level of transparency you don't often see in situations like this. Mike and Sue not only weathered that storm, (which we discuss at some length,) they went on to lead their industry in a number of advancements that are helping revolutionize modern agriculture. From artificial intelligence to artificial insemination, we discuss all kinds of scientific breakthroughs that have had a positive impact on the environment, the animals, the climate, the soil, and the critical link between energy and agriculture. (All 42 trucks in their fleet are now powered by 100% compressed natural gas, derived entirely from the crap generated by their own cows. Stool to fuel, in other words. It’s pretty incredible.) It’s important to hear, especially for anyone who cares about the environment and the humane treatment of animals, while sharing my addiction to chewing and swallowing.
