It is similar to a cartwheel in the sense that you start it just like a cartwheel, but the ending is what makes it a little different. A cartwheel you would keep your legs separated, and in a round off, you would aggressively bring them together and land on two feet. Coming out of this skill, coming out of the round off, most kids or most athletes performing in gymnastics or cheerleading would do either a back handspring or a back tuck, which leads to other skills. The easiest way I have found to do it is I always use some chalk to draw out where I want the feet, where I want the hands, how to do the hands when you put them on the floor, and where to put your feet. There are numerous different drills that I have acquired over the years that I use on my athletes, and most of them have to do with a cartwheel or snapping out of a handstand onto both feet aggressively. You want to make sure when you land though, you do want your arms up, you do want your core to be tight, and you want to make sure that you're not leaning so far forward. A good way to do this would be to do numerous cartwheels, cartwheel step together, where you would land on one foot first, pull the second foot in, and that would simulate how you're going to land. And then aggressively bring your legs together a little earlier to do the round off later.

We often learn the most from our failures, this is particularly true for advancements in the field of engineering. Unfortunately for the engineers in the aviation industry, the prices to pay for failure are high. This will be a reoccurring theme in my videos, trust me. The flip-side of this unforgiving industry, is that it consistently provides learning opportunities for engineers, because failure is not an option when peoples lives are at risk. One of the greatest examples of this occurred during the development of cabin pressurisation. The problems caused by cabin pressurisation didn’t develop until the introduction of the first commercial jet powered aircraft, The De Havilland Comet. It entered service in 1952 and initially proved to be a massive success, but just one year into service catastrophe struck. Three Comets suffered fatal mid-flight disintegrations and the entire fleet was grounded until the cause was identified. The root of the problem was double-edged. The introduction of jet engines required planes to fly even higher in order to make the fuel hungry engines economically viable (less drag in the upper atmosphere means less fuel is needed). As a plane increases in altitude the external atmospheric pressure lowers to a greater extent than the internal cabin pressure. This creates a pressure differential that causes the fuselage to expand ever so slightly. Engineers accounted for this, but the effects of repeated pressure cycles over time were not well known at the time. Over thousands of cycles and metal begins to fatigue and cracks can form at high stress locations. The effects of stress concentration were also not well understood at the time. Stress concentration occurs when the flow of stress is interrupted. Square windows, in contrast to modern oval windows, provide a significant barrier to the smooth flow of stress. Because of this stress peaks at the sharp corner of the window, and this is exactly where investigators determined the origin of failure to be. These combined phenomenon proved to be fatal. Today all airliners feature oval windows to avoid this stress concentration and comprehensive fatigue testing is required before a plane can be approved by the FAA. We often learn the most from our failures, this is particularly true for advancements in the field of engineering. These are now two basic concepts that every materials engineer is taught, these events allowed us to further our understanding of materials and prevent further failures. Although it’s been around since the 1920s, commercial air travel didn’t really take off until the ‘50s. That’s when airplanes started to fly at higher altitudes. It saved airlines tons of money because up there, the air is significantly less dense and aircraft use less fuel. But the early, box-shaped planes couldn’t handle that kind of pressure, so engineers presented a new cylinder-shaped cabin. And even after this upgrade, aircraft still had standard square windows, and that turned out to be a grave mistake... SUMMARY: - If each square window has 4 vulnerable spots, it’s likely to shatter under the enormous stress that comes from keeping the cabin pressurized for passengers at high altitudes. - When the shades are closed, flight attendants can't see what's happening outside. And since most accidents happen during take-off and landing, it's crucial that the cabin crew have a good view of what's going on outside the aircraft. - By placing windows that low, airplane manufacturers distribute the pressure around them more evenly. - Big windows can weaken the plane’s fuselage. If it’s not as strong and gives under the pressure, the aircraft gets ripped apart. - If they were bigger, that cabin pressure would escape faster. As a result, the air would become unbearable before the aircraft managed to reach a safe altitude. - Then why are the windows in the cockpit so big?? In this case, we have to deal with priorities. Pilots need to be able to see what's happening around them and where they’re going. - Another question connected with the doors on jumbo jets is, "Why do they always open inward?" Here’s a hint: it’s called a “plug” door. The pressure inside the plane is much higher than it is outside. This pressure literally forces the door in its socket and prevents it from opening until the pressure becomes equal. - Backward seating on a plane is much safer than the usual one. It’s because rear-facing seats provide more support for your neck, head, and back. - But the main reason for leaving things as they are is the huge costs this renovation would involve. Israel and Hamas are discussing extending the truce deal on its final day, with one more hostage swap planned for Monday. Later today, the fourth exchange of hostages is expected to take place. Monday marked day four of the temporary ceasefire with the anticipated release of an additional group of hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7.
